The Pendulum Year
After the experience of caring for a person living with dementia, caregivers may experience grief and loss in unique ways. Moving on can be incredibly difficult, but moving forward is possible. As caregivers evaluate the impact that dementia has had on their lives, they may long for the time of their lives before dementia made their unwelcome appearance. Yet, this old life has ceased to exist. And, the new one may seem very far away. That’s where momentum comes in and takes over, pushing us forward, hoping for a lift in the upswing to drop us at a new height.
